While I'm a fan of Qdoba, this location needs to step it up. I usually stop in here after work and when I do, the place is virtually empty. With that said, why do I have to wait around for someone to finally get ready to take my order? Also, why is it that the staples aren't ready at the peak of dinnertime? It makes no sense. Aside from that, the location is nice and clean and I'm always greeted by someone who is friendly. They just need to get the led out their bum and speed it up a bit.

This place is the worst man. The service at this particular one is bad. They don't listen to the customers well, they seem to run out of ingredients and will rush through orders without asking you what you want. I actually like Qdoba but this one blows. I've tried to give them 3 or 4 chances and every time they mess something up. Unless you really live Qdoba don't waste your time here. Just go down the street to Chipotle or Baja Fresh instead.

The food is good, better than Chipotle due to the Taco Salad. What made me try it was the LivingSocial deal, $8 for $13 worth of food and drink. Too bad the management at this location isn't trained well enough to process it without giving me a hassle, two days in a row. This woman tells me that "I must spend $13 or more". After spending 2 minutes explaining how it really works, my bill is $13.53 and she wouldn't let me pay for the $.53 using my check card, she said I can only use cash. I told her if you're unclear and you're the manager, I'm sure the rest of your staff has a problem too. I've requested a refund from Livingsocial.

Not as good as Chipotle. The food is obviously not fresh. Since they were out of vegies, I said I could wait until they cooked more. The lady goes back to the kitchen (which is open), grabs a bag of mixed and chopped veggies out of the freezer and heats them up in the pan. I trusted her. When I got back to the office, the veggies were still frozen. There are similar examples from other experiences that I have had at Qdoba. Sometimes, they are on point, but the fact that they don't use the level of ingredients that Chipotle does means that it will never be on the same level until they change up what they serve. Side note, the 50% student discount on Tuesdays from 2 till 4 is solid.

I'm a Chipotle lover so it took me a little to come around and check this place out. Same idea as Chipotle just a different taste. A little more flavor.. but all that means is a little more calories. Anywho. I had a Vegetarian Taco Salad w/o the Shell and it was wonderful. I will definitely stop by again especially since the staff only had smiles on their faces. Completely satisfied :)

Decent place - like most other Qdobas I have been to. Staff is friendly. My one issue: Do they do the Qdoba loyalty card program anymore? The last couple times I have been there I handed my card to the cashier and they just looked at it like it was a foreign concept. I never made a stink about it but would like to know if I can stop carrying this card around.

Beware of cockroaches!!! Cockroach crawled on the napkin dispenser all over the exposed napkin while I was eating. Some poor guy is going to wipe his mouth with it. Stay away from here unless you like cockroaches!!!

Parking stinks -- a ticket waiting to happen every time I go -- but fortunately service is quick for carryout. I go to both Qdoba and Chipotle in Silver Spring, and I give Qdoba the edge because of its queso sauce -- great on chips or on a burrito.

Mad as hell...came here....and they ran outta black beans....it's gonna take 25 freakin minutes??? I should get a discount for my wait

Qdoba over Chipotle for me. I love the variety. -Good food -Inexpensive 4 Stars because they don't always have the best customer service.

Something fast yet not fast food then I recommend you try this spot. No long lines and it's an upgrade from Chipotle.

I had put off trying Qdoba for a long time because I am primarily a Chipotle salad lover. But recently decided to try this after sampling a friends queso from here. I fell in love with their queso - sooooo much better than California Tortilla! Their chips aren't too salty like Chipotle so I decided to give it a try. I thought the food was pretty good. I liked that they offered whole wheat tortilla and that they had a lot of the similar items that Chipotle actually has. I liked that the items tasted a little fresher and less greasier. I really like their naked chicken salads, and love that you can get queso in a burrito - yum. The majority is the same concept as Chipotle and I was pleased. Prices are good. Service is quick. Line is never crazy out the door like Chipotle so much easier to be in and out!

Service: Though the staff is friendly enough, I always get a sense of urgency when it's my turn to order. And what exactly can one get on each burrito (w/o being charged extra)? Note: the staff doesn't seem to have a clue, either, as the price always is different (in spite of ordering the same exact burrito on at least five different occasions)... Food: The food tastes ok, but the proportion of items varies drastically depending on the staff member (e.g., I thought I ordered a pulled pork burrito, but maybe I blacked out and ordered a rice and bean burrito?). Also, they don't seem to understand that burritos are more enjoyable when each bite has a little bit of everything. Burritos are not rocket pops, I don't want six bites of rice, then six bites of beans, then two bites of meat, etc... Final Word: Qdoba is in a convenient locale and the food tastes better than Taco Bell and Mi Rancho, but for a consistently better experience all around, head to the Sprung's Chipotle.

Had the tacos. They blew. The place had no business and the staff acted like they were slammed. My first time maybe I'll try a burrito next time.

It's pretty good. The chicken is okay, it didn't taste real, though. Moe's is better. I'd also recommend Chipotle before Qdobe.

Q'doba beats Chipotle any day! They have more variety, most importantly- QUESO! I have never had a long wait at this location. I especially appreciate half price Mondays for students. I can get a burrito and a drink for $5. Can't beat the taste and value! Try the queso burrito, one of my favorites on their menu.

There seems to be a competition for your burrito dollar in Silver Spring these days. So many to choose from with the fixings of your choice. I stopped by here after the gym only to negate the positive impact of my workout. But hey, there was an open meter directly in front of the place so it was calling, "Liiiibbby...come to me!" I had to do it (there was even 13 minutes left on the meter!). Really though the real pull was that I got an email from them for my birthday offering a buy one/get one free deal. Two for the price of one?! Yes sirree! I owed my friend something for helping me with my computer woes (he doesn't have to know it was free, right?). I got him a regular chicken burrito and I ordered a quesadilla. My meal was piping hot and very cheesy. The salsa was fresh and flavorful. Not the best quesadilla out there, but better than Moe's. My friend ranked his burrito with high marks. "Better than Chipotle", he said. The only thing bad is the lack of parking: it is a great commuter stop-by. The place was clean. The cashier was perky. If I pass by again and see an open meter, I will pop in again. There is a Flippin' Pizza opening up next door in the coming weeks. One can never get enough cheese.

I have to say for a chain this place is pretty good. Compared to the nearby Chipotle the produce is fresher, the tortillas are better, and the meat is less fatty. Also the chips are better, maybe a little too salty. In addition there are no crowds of loud, out of school kids that turn the place into a dirty cafeteria which is what happens to Chipotle on nights and weekends.

If you're going to eat crappy food pretending to be Mexican, Qdoba is the place to do it. I have to shout out to the Silver Spring location. They are incredibly nice, and provide consistently wonderful customer service for a fast food/assembly line type of place.

So that old art deco-ish building on Colesville RD (the one you probably never noticed) finally got resurrected, rehabbed, and modernized. I was so happy to see this happened, I expected it would just get torn down and become a parking lot or something. Their first tenant? Qdoba. I had seen these around town before, but had never eaten at one. So I decided to try it out, it is only about 2 blocks from my apartment after all. The place has really really friendly staff, like surprisingly friendly. All smiles and ready to help you pick something out. Maybe it helped that we ate around 8:30, so they weren't swamped. But I'm sure they are friendly even when under pressure. The food is very good. You go up to the counter and do a build it your self type thing...just like Chipotle. I kept it simple and had hard tacos with cheese and lettuce. Yeah, I'm boring...but they were good. My friends seemed to like the more interesting dishes they got. It was a little greasy, but what do you expect. Definitely a cut above Tacobell! I know people look down on reviews of chains, but this place was new to me, and the staff and location really made me want to Yelp it. Good place, check them out!

Does anyone remember McDowell's from Coming to America? Does Chipotle know that they have a clone in Silver Spring, MD? Much like the first time I saw the iPhone clone I was shocked. Same as Q'Doba. I was craving some Chipotle style chips and tacos and wandered over and sure enough! The customer service is GREAT! I ordered 1 shredded pork and 1 ground beef soft tacos. the shredded pork was AMAZING. I've never ordered it from Chipotle so I can't compare there but the ground beef was so oily......I could have fried some chicken in it! Bottom line: next visit will be filled with nachos and swine.

I mean, it's Qdoba son! You know what you get when you walk in here. A Chipotle-like experience, son. You get beans, son! You get rice, son! You get your choice of meats and sauces, b, nawmsayin'?????? You get it for a decent price for the meats on yo' rice.....word. I mean, it is what it is and that's all that it is. What? you expected Hemingway?

BETTER than chipotle! They are basically the same but with way more options for toppings and specialty sauces! The queso burrito is good n' cheesy with a three cheese, poblano, and jalapeño pepper sauce. And the staff is very friendly offering me a buy one get one free entree coupon for the next time I come in!

I've only had their breakfast...but lemme' tell ya..It hits the spot everytime. I've passed by this place so many times without even a thought to check out what exactly they were all about, until one morning I noticed they were open and i was a little tired of Panera breakfast...why not try something new? and thats when i was introduced to the chorizo breakfast burrito! It was love at first bite (but i did fall more in love with each following bite as all the ingredients started working together) Potatoes, eggs, chorizo and some salsa and cheese. BANG, its a hangover dream!! I go there now at least once a week and try different things in my breakfast burrito. Soo sooo good! Thanks Qdoba for making my breakfast good!

Went back again because I was too lazy to walk to Chipotle. Got the burrito.. even though I asked for the burrito bowl (do they even have that).. the lady pretty much ignored me. ehh ok whatever. but the food was decent. nice choice of hot sauces to add on. i still prefer chipotle :)

If all else fails comes 1pm, then Qdoba is always a safe bet. Nothing really stands out as exceptional or bad. But service is pretty quick, so you're in and out in no time. Oh and they always have to mention that Guac costs extra when you ask for it!

It's good solid 'try to be Chipotle but isn't' food. I ordered through Takeout Taxi. Before ordering, I read reviews and they all referenced Chipotle. I now know why. I order the Vegetarian Burrito, Fajita Ranchero with chicken Burrito & kids cheese quesadillas. The burritos looked EXACTLY like Chipotle takeout burritos (big logs wrapped in foil). The Vegetarian Burrito was good. The grilled vegetables were all very good but it was as if them and some rice were rolled in a tortilla. It was kind of dry and needed a sauce. The Fajita Ranchero Burrito was very good. It had a kick, not spicy, and was quite good the kids quesadiilas are cheese and a tortilla. That's all the ingredients are. If no Chipotle was around and I wanted that kind of food, Qdoba is good. It's solid. I wouldn't seek it out though.

I really wanted to love this place. Coming from a guy that thinks that Taco Bell on 14th St., NW is a little slice of heaven, I have to admit that my expectations were high. Perhaps it was the awkwardly perky male cashier (at Taco Bell, you're lucky if you get a grunt and that's just the way I like it). Perhaps it was the fact that my beef burrito was composed entirely of rice and beans and no ....... beef. Or perhaps it was their limited menu, but I just didn't love this place. Yes, the prices are good and, as others have pointed out, it seems clean, but shouldn't we expect more from our Americanized Mexican fast food restaurants? Throw me a chalupa, why don't you? Is that too much to ask? Will I return? Likely - Taco Bell and I have an on-again, off-again type of relationship. But like that torrid lover who you only see sporadically during fits of revenge, Qdoba will never own a peace of my heart.

I came to eat at the Qdoba on Colesville Rd. in Silver Spring MD on Sunday evening, 12/1/2013 (8515 Colesville Rd., Unit A-1, Silver Spring, MD 20910). I have eaten there countless times before. As usual, the food was made quickly and accurately. But throughout my meal, the staff were shouting across the restaurant at one another loudly in Spanish, between the dining area and the kitchen, and across the kitchen. They were literally shouting. It was really obtrusive and interfering with my ability to enjoy my meal. I mentioned to one of the staff that the dining atmosphere that they were creating was not very pleasant and suggested they should not be shouting across the restaurant at one another. She could barely speak English. In broken English, she said they needed to clean the place and that she was the manager and she needed to talk to the other employees there. Rather than apologizing for creating an unpleasant dining atmosphere, she thought it was perfectly normal for a restaurant staff to act that way. I asked for the name and telephone number of the owner of the restaurant. She said she didn't know who the owner was. I said, if you are the manager of this restaurant, you must know who the owner is. I told her that she was obviously lying about either being the manager, or not knowing the name of the owner, because any restaurant manager would know the name of the owner. She threatened to call the police. As she was calling the police, I walked out and told them I would NEVER be returning. 1. I don't intend to return to this restaurant ever again and 2. I would like to speak to the owner of the restaurant to know if he/she thinks it was right to treat me this way and if he/she thinks the restaurant staff was right to be shouting across the restaurant the whole time that I was there. There was no information posted anywhere with information about who owns the restaurant or how to contact him/her so sent a comment via the Qdoba website.

This is a pretty okay Qdoba, but it's so small! The food is great as always, just the atmosphere is a little...dead. But besides that, I love Qdoba so the food gets my vote!

I tried Qdoba for the first time yesterday evening. It's basically a Chipotle clone with a few extra options (gumbo, etc.)... except their food doesn't taste as good as Chipotle. I had a "naked burrito," which is their lingo for a burrito with no wrap (what Chipotle calls a burrito bol). I had mine with shredded beef, black beans, corn, tomatos, and cheese. It was stunningly average. It also really, really needed salt - until salt was added, it was bland as paper mache. For the price, I would recommend either getting one of their specialties or just wandering over to Chipotle. Friendly staff got a little flustered and accidentally combined my order with the gentleman in front of me, but was easily corrected. Just OK, in my book.

I've been going here for lunch on a weekly basis b/c it's on the same block as my office, but from now on I'm walking the extra two blocks to go to Chipotle. My meals keep getting blander and blander and today I was served undercooked beans, cold sauteed veggies, and chicken that tasted like it had been cooked-frozen-then-thawed (now that I think about it, I have never actually seen them cooking, unlike the never-ending cook-a-thon at Chipotle). Never again. Thank you Qdoba, for making me a Chipotle convert!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
